How much energy your transfer needs
Energy use does not depend on the amount you send. It depends on whether the recipient holds USDT. Sending 1 USDT costs the same as sending 100,000 USDT.

Energy use was measured on 2,317 USDT transfers on the TRON network on 22 September 2026, and package prices are as of the same date. Network parameters change by validator vote, so energy use and the burn price may shift over time.
What happens if you do not have enough energy
The network first uses the energy already on your address and pays for the rest by burning TRX, at 100 sun per unit. If you have enough TRX, the transfer goes through, but you are charged more than you expected.
If you do not have enough TRX, or the cost hits the fee limit your wallet set, the transaction fails with an OUT OF ENERGY error. Your USDT stays with you, but the energy and TRX already spent are not returned. What to do after an OUT OF ENERGY error.
This explains the common "last time it took more than 10 TRX": the recipient had no USDT, the transfer needed 130,285 energy, and the network burned about 13 TRX.
Buying or renting: which to choose
There are three ways to get energy. The right one depends on how many transfers you make and how often.
A one-hour package for a specific transfer.
This is how Tronilend works: 2.5 TRX for 65,000 energy, 5 TRX for 131,000, 7.5 TRX for 196,000. That covers one, two or three transfers to recipients who hold USDT. The energy lasts 1 hour.
Renting for several days.
Worth it if you send transfers every day: the price per transfer is lower, but you also pay for days when you send nothing. We do not sell this kind of rental, because for occasional transfers a one-hour package is cheaper.
Staking your own TRX.
Frozen TRX gives you energy every day. Right now one staked TRX yields about 9.5 energy per day, so one transfer a day needs about 6,700 TRX frozen, or about 13,700 TRX for a recipient without USDT.
Bottom line: if you make a few transfers a month, buying TRX to stake does not pay off. Your money is locked, and the savings are tiny. Getting energy for each transfer is cheaper.
How to buy energy, step by step
Paste your address into the check.
Use the address your USDT will be sent from, not the recipient's. Mixing these up is the most common mistake.
Add the recipient address.
This tells the check whether you need 65,000 or 131,000 energy.
Choose a package.
The check suggests the amount for your transfer; if you have several transfers, take a bigger package.
The term is 1 hour.
It is the same for every package: send your transfer within an hour of buying.
Pay in TRX from the same address.
Send exactly the package amount to the payment address. Do not pay from an exchange, or the energy will go to the exchange's address.
Wait for the delegation, then send your USDT.
The tracker shows your payment and the delegation transaction. Once the energy is on your address, send USDT as usual.

How to check that the energy arrived

In TronLink, energy and Bandwidth are shown in the resources section on the main screen: after purchase, energy goes up by the amount you bought. In Trust Wallet, the easiest place to look is the USDT transfer confirmation screen: with enough energy, the network fee will be close to zero instead of 6–13 TRX.

Do not send the transfer until the energy is on your address: the network will burn TRX just as if you had not bought any.
Is it safe
Delegating energy hands over a resource, not access to your funds. Energy reaches your address through the standard TRON network function DelegateResource and goes back after an hour. It does not let anyone move your TRX or USDT.
We only need your public address, the one you already give people so they can pay you. We never ask for your seed phrase, private key or a transaction signature: an energy service simply has no use for them.

they ask for your seed phrase or private key;
they ask you to connect your wallet and sign a transaction, and that signature can allow your funds to be moved;
they only work through private messages and do not show prices or the payment address openly.

What it costs compared with burning TRX
Take one transfer to a recipient who already holds USDT. Without energy, the network burns 64,285 × 100 sun, about 6.43 TRX. With a package you pay 2.5 TRX: a saving of about 3.9 TRX, or 61%.
For a recipient with a zero USDT balance: burning costs about 13.03 TRX, while the 131,000 package costs 5 TRX. That saves about 8 TRX, or 62%.
Bandwidth is the same in both cases: about 345 units per transfer. While the free allowance of 600 units per day lasts, it costs nothing; otherwise, add about 0.35 TRX. The saving in dollars depends on the TRX rate, so we count in TRX.

The first transfer to a new recipient or to an empty address needs twice the energy: 130,285 instead of 64,285.
Get energy before sending, not after an error.
Once a transfer fails with OUT OF ENERGY, what was spent cannot be recovered.
Do not keep extra TRX for fees.
With energy, you only need TRX for the package and for Bandwidth once the free allowance runs out, about 0.35 TRX per transfer.
Group your transfers within one hour.
The 196,000 package for 7.5 TRX covers three transfers to recipients who hold USDT.
Pay from the same address you send USDT from.
Otherwise the energy will arrive in the wrong place.
