Transfer sent but not received: what to check

First, find the transfer TxID and open it in TronScan. Everything else depends on the status.

If the status is FAILED, the transfer did not happen and your USDT is still with you. Get Energy and send again. If the status is SUCCESS, the USDT is already on the recipient address. Check the address and network, and if you sent to an exchange, wait for crediting or contact its support with the TxID.

Step 1. Find the TxID

The TxID (transaction hash) is the unique number of a transfer. Your wallet shows it in the transaction history, in the transaction details. Copy it.

If there is no TxID, open your address in TronScan and find the transfer in the transactions list by time and amount.

Step 2. Check the status

Paste the TxID into the search on tronscan.org.

Situation 1. Status FAILED

It happens. Your USDT is still there. Only the fee was burned. The address did not have enough Energy, and not enough TRX to burn instead.

1. Check the address: how much Energy and TRX it has now.
2. Get Energy through the instant purchase: 2.5 TRX for a transfer to an address with USDT (~65,000 Energy) or 5 TRX for a new address or exchange (~131,000 Energy).
3. Send the USDT again within an hour.

Burned TRX is not returned. Details in FAILED – OUT OF ENERGY.

Situation 2. SUCCESS, but the recipient does not see it

The transfer is done. Check:

1. The recipient address. Compare the address in TronScan with the one you were given. Check not only the ends but the middle too. If the address differs, it may have been swapped. See clipboard address swapping.
2. The token. Make sure USDT was sent, not another token with a similar name.
3. The recipient's wallet. Sometimes USDT does not show until the recipient adds the token to their list. Ask them to open their address in TronScan, where the balance is always visible.

Situation 3. Transfer to an exchange, SUCCESS, but not credited

An exchange credits funds by its own rules. Sometimes it needs time for confirmations or checks.

1. Make sure the deposit address was taken from the deposit page for USDT on the TRC-20 (TRON) network specifically.
2. Wait for the time the exchange states on its deposit page.
3. If it is still not credited, contact the exchange support. Include the TxID, amount and time of the transfer.

Situation 4. Sent on the wrong network

A TRON address starts with the letter T and has 34 characters. If the deposit address was for another network and you chose TRC-20 (or the other way round), the transfer may have gone to the wrong place.

What to do: contact the recipient or exchange support right away with the TxID. Sometimes an exchange can help, but that depends entirely on its rules.

Situation 5. Sent to the wrong address

To be honest: blockchain transfers are irreversible. If the address is wrong and belongs to a stranger, only the owner of that address can return the transfer.

If the address belongs to an exchange, contact its support. If you suspect fraud, report it to law enforcement in your country.

How to avoid this next time

1. Copy the recipient address from the original source, not from history.
2. Check the beginning, end and middle of the address.
3. Send a small amount to a new address first.
4. Before the transfer, check your address so there is enough Energy and the transaction does not fail.

FAQ

How long does a USDT transfer take on TRON? The transaction itself reaches the blockchain in seconds. If the status is SUCCESS, the transfer is complete. A delay is only possible on the recipient's side, for example at an exchange.

Can a transfer get "stuck" in the network? If the transaction is already in TronScan, its status is final: SUCCESS or FAILED. If it is not there, it was never sent.

Can an Energy service help with exchange crediting? No. Energy is only needed for sending. Crediting is handled by the exchange.
