Can burned TRX be refunded after a failed transfer

Short answer
No. The TRON network does not return burned TRX. Neither the wallet, nor an Energy service, nor support can return it. The good news: if the transfer failed with the status FAILED, your USDT is still in the wallet. To make the next transfer go through without burning, get Energy before sending: ~65,000 for an address with USDT or ~131,000 for a new address or exchange.

The good news: if the transfer failed with the status FAILED, your USDT is still in the wallet. Only the fee was burned. To make the next transfer go through without burning, get Energy before sending.
Why TRX gets burned
A USDT TRC-20 transfer is a smart contract call. It needs Energy. The network has no free Energy.
If the address has no Energy, the network covers it with TRX from the balance. That is what burning means: the TRX is destroyed, not sent to anyone. The price is about 100 sun per unit of Energy.

Older articles mention 14–28 TRX. Those were the costs before the network lowered the burn price.
Why it cannot be returned
- The TRX is destroyed. There is no recipient you could write to and ask for it back.
- The transaction is recorded forever. The blockchain does not cancel recorded transactions, even failed ones.
- The network did the work. A failed transaction still used network resources until it stopped.
If someone promises to "recover burned TRX" for a fee or asks for your seed phrase to do it, they are scammers.
What if I bought Energy after the failure?
A common situation: the transfer failed, the person bought Energy and hopes the old transaction will go through. That will not happen. Energy works only for new transactions.
The Energy you bought has not gone anywhere, though. It is on the address and lasts its full term, which is 1 hour for the instant purchase. Just send the USDT again.
What to do now
- Make sure your USDT is there. Open your wallet or check the address.
- Decide on the Energy amount. 65,000 if the recipient already holds USDT. 131,000 if the address is new or belongs to an exchange.
- Get Energy before the transfer. Send 2.5 TRX or 5 TRX through the instant purchase from the same wallet the USDT will be sent from. Not from an exchange.
- Wait 3–10 seconds and repeat the transfer.
If your address is not activated yet, address activation is added to the order for 1.5 TRX.
How to avoid losing TRX in the future
Always get Energy before the transfer
This is the main rule. Energy can be bought in seconds, while burned TRX is gone for good.
Get extra for new addresses
The first transfer to an address without USDT needs ~131,000 Energy. If you are not sure whether the recipient holds USDT, choose 5 TRX. Or enter the recipient address in the checker and it will tell you.
Do not put the transfer off
Energy from the instant purchase lasts 1 hour. Unused Energy is not refunded.
Watch the confirmation screen
Many wallets show how much TRX will be burned. If it shows several TRX instead of zero, there is not enough Energy. Do not confirm until you top it up.

FAQ
Can wallet support return the TRX? No. The wallet is non-custodial and does not control the network. Burning is done by the TRON protocol itself.
What if my USDT transfer succeeded but a lot of TRX was burned? The transfer went through, just without Energy. The network burned ~6.85 TRX or ~13.35 TRX in place of Energy. That cannot be returned either, but next time you can pay 2.5 or 5 TRX for Energy.
Why was more burned than the table shows? Most likely the transfer went to a new address or exchange, which needs ~131,000 Energy. Or extra TRX was burned for Bandwidth, if the free daily allowance of about 600 units had run out.
Is unused Energy refunded? No. When the term ends, it goes back to the service, and the remainder is not compensated. So get Energy right before the transfer.
Can I find out in advance how much will be burned? Yes. Paste your address and the recipient address into the checker: it shows how much Energy is missing and what the transfer will cost.
